OUR ORGANIZATION
|
The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic fraternal service organization founded in 1882 by Father Michael J. McGivney. It's dedicated to promoting Catholic education, charitable works, and social welfare, while also providing insurance and other benefits to its members and their families. The organization's core principles are Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism.
Monsignor Patrick R. Dunigan, a Pastor at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Flint, was a Chaplain in the Michigan National Guard since 1907. He served in the 126 Infantry, 32nd Division during World War I and was highly decorated. At the time of his Honorable Discharge from service, he held the rank of Major. French military decorations followed him in substantial number. General Order No.15 of 1923, awarded him the American Distinguished Service Cross. We have the honor of calling our council and assembly after this fine priest.
